2008 - A Time to Make a Difference

With the New Year I would like all the DC Chapter members to take time to reflect on the year prior. We have made some new friends, met new members, and unfortunately we lost a good friend.

To make the contributions of the members who have built the chapter and maintain the trust of the new members I am asking you to take a look on how you can be more involved with the Chapter. The D.C. Metropolitan Chapter has been among the most active of the local chapters in CSI and the Institute has listened whenever we spoke. Now that the senior members have passed the torch, it is time for the present members to take it up.

The construction industry has recognized CSI as the cornerstone of standardization and specifications development. We are looking to build on the vibrancy and dedication of all who support CSI and demonstrate the values of the institute and the chapter in their daily work by providing opportunities to work together on committees and in workgroups and sharing it with the world. You can even get involved by attending the CSI Middle Atlantic Region - Leadership Orientation Seminars (LOS) Apr. 18-19, 2008.

We can not do it alone in our individual disciplines; it takes all of us, together as one team, by gathering our experiences and knowledge of delivering our projects in a clear, concise, and cost efficient manner. Visit the DC Chapter website (www.csidcmetro.org) to see what committees and workgroups are available for you to share your strengths, your knowledge, and your visions of a better way to build the future of the built environment.

I really mean it when I thank everyone who makes this chapter run. For those who have not made a meeting I implore you to set aside some time to see our new meeting place (Crystal City Sports Pub) and make a new friend or renew old ones .

Please feel free to contact me with your thoughts, concerns, and interests for our coming year. I am here to serve the chapter but I need your help to keep the spirit alive!
